Senior Ecologist/Ecologist

Nicholas Pearson Associates (NPA) is an established and respected consultancy of environmental planners, ecologists and landscape architects based in the centre of Bath with projects throughout the UK. We take a multi-disciplinary approach to our work. Our highly regarded team of ecologists provide the full spectrum of ecological services whilst maintaining excellent professional standards together with a high degree of scientific integrity. We have a broad client base and cover projects ranging from private residential properties to large, multi-phased urban expansion schemes.

We are seeking to appoint Senior Ecologists/Ecologists to join our existing team. 

It is envisaged that all successful applicants will possess and be able to demonstrate:

  • A detailed knowledge of habitats in the UK;
  • Experience of coordinating and undertaking Phase 1 Habitat Surveys;  
  • Full membership (or working towards) of CIEEM; 
  • An interest and experience in actively engaging with the design process to incorporate ecological measures into developments to ensure net biodiversity gain;
  • Confidence in dealing with clients, wider project team members and stakeholders within an environmental consultancy;
  • Detailed knowledge of nature conservation legislation and policy;
  • Excellent report writing skills;
  • Experience in putting together fee proposals and tenders;
  • Experience in the application of GIS and digital recording technologies in commercial Ecology is desirable.

It would be desirable but not essential for applicants to possess:

  • Ornithological skills;
  • Class survey licences for bats (Level 1 & 2). 

In addition to the above, with regards to the Senior Ecologist role, we are specifically looking for people with one or more of the following skills:

  • Competence in Ecological Impact Assessment;
  • Competence in Habitats Regulations Assessment;
  • Experience of preparing and implementing EPS mitigation licences, particularly for bats and GCNs.
