The Role
 
We’re looking for a Hydrometry and Telemetry Officer to join the regional Hydrometry and Telemetry Systems team to do office based data processing, validation and quality assurance on hydrometric data collected in the field.
 
The high quality hydrometric data produced is essential for the effective management of water resources and flood risk. 

The Team
 
The Hydrometry and Telemetry Systems team undertakes core telemetry, hydrometric and hydrological activities within our Yorkshire and North East region. You'll join a team of 15, primarily based at our Phoenix house office in Leeds.
 
The team are responsible for the regional telemetry system and the validation and archiving of all hydrometric data collected in the region. The service delivered underpins much of the Environment Agency’s statutory responsibilities relating to flood forecasting and water resources.

Experience/Skills Required
 
We’re seeking a self motivated individual and a good team player, who is able to successfully manage their own workload. You'll have relevant vocational training and experience in an environmental field and possess proven ability and/or knowledge of:
  • Hydrological processes and hydrometric monitoring methods;
  • Data & information management – awareness of data collection methods, data transfer and management systems;
  • Quality control of data.
Other key requirements for this job include excellent communication skills, proficiency in word, excel and database management along with an ability to analyse and solve problems. As part of a customer driven team you will be expected to understand our client requirements and deliver to their expectations.
