RES has a dedicated offshore turbine engineering team supporting RES's offshore projects during the selection, manufacturing, supply, installation and commissioning of offshore wind turbines for offshore wind farms for the UK and European markets.

The Role:

Reporting to the Offshore Turbine Engineering Manager, the primary responsibility of the role is to work with manufacturers through detailed specification, production, transportation, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines to ensure the as-built systems meet RES requirements and are in accordance with all the technical contractual obligations.

As a member of the offshore turbine team you will work with other members of the team to ensure clarity and efficiency in the following areas of responsibility:

  • Assisting the project development team  with regards to turbine selection for consenting design
  • Preparing tender documentation and assessing manufacturers' proposals in terms of scope of services offered and evidence of reliable technical compliance
  • Preparing contract technical specifications
  • Coordinating the collation of technical documentation for turbine supply contracts
  • Coordinating technical due diligence activities
  • Liaising with turbine manufacturers to obtain information required by in-house and external designers and independent verification bodies
  • Administering the technical elements of secured contracts through the manufacturing and construction phases
  • Administering technical queries during the detailed design and construction phases
  • Performing visits to manufacturing facilities and construction sites for inspection, test and progress meetings
  • Coordinating expert consultants as required
  • Coordination of Health, Safety and Quality through the manufacturing and construction phases
  • Coordinating the assessment and rectification of minor defects during the commissioning phase
  • Working with other parts of the project team to ensure clarity and efficiency of interfaces (foundations, electrical system design, SCADA, wind farm control system, operation and maintenance, consents compliance, etc)
  • Supporting the operation and maintenance team through analysis of turbine operation data, availability, production statistics and fault codes

The Person:

This role would suit a degree qualified mechanical or electrical engineer, or equivalent with engineering and technical experience. Knowledge and experience with wind turbines and/or offshore sector are not essential but would be strongly advantageous.

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate that they have the following capabilities:

  • Good skills to technically evaluate potentially complex machinery or equipment
  • Good communication skills including report writing, presentation and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors and consultants
  • The ability to manage own workload and meet demanding timescales on a number of potentially simultaneous projects
  • The ability to work as a member of a team and to react positively to the varying challenges of construction projects
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to travel within UK and Europe, as well as travel to and working on client's offices and offshore sites
  • This role may require visits to offshore installations and working at height
