Programme Management Office (PMO) Manager (Grade 6)

  • £56,707 - £68,322
  • Two Year Fixed Term Appointment (with the possibility of extension)
  • London
  • Ref: IRC52261

Description

If you’ve managed a PMO for a complex, large-scale public sector programme on a national scale before, you could have what it takes to shape a brand new change programme – one that’s set to transform the way the country consumes energy.

You will lead the planning, progress monitoring, risk and issue management and establish the drumbeat for the overall Smart Meters programme. You will have a major influence on the shaping and delivery of a long-standing, core and critical national programme that will deliver energy savings for generations to come. We’ll look to you to lead management of the critical path, aligning the central programme plans with the wider energy industry and other participants. You will manage the change control, financial forecasting and assurance regime of a technology-enabled change programme that will connect some 53 million new ‘smart’ gas and electricity meters to a new Data Communications Company (DCC) and the energy industry. Of course, you won’t be doing this alone - there’ll be a PMO team to help you, who will require your leadership and support, plus numerous internal and external stakeholders to manage. You will support the governance process and contribute to decision-making across the programme.

Having led a PMO of a large and complex programme before, you will be ready for this key, high-profile role. You will have extensive experience of programme management, operating ‘Prince 2’ and ‘Managing Successful Programmes’ methodologies and be familiar with public sector programme governance processes and best practice programme management techniques. You will have the written and oral skills to communicate complex issues clearly and simply and you will have the inter-personal skills to build constructive relationships with a range of work-stream leads and stakeholders, plus the credibility to earn their respect. You will be delivery focussed and have the determination to meet milestones and you will be keen to seize this opportunity to have a lasting effect on global sustainability.
