Marine Policy and Planning Adviser

Edinburgh
£36,000 per annum

The Crown Estate is a commercial organisation, tasked with generating a profit from our diverse property holdings for the benefit of the nation.  We conduct our business in line with our core values of commercialism, integrity and stewardship. With the rights to lease the UK’s seabed for offshore renewable energy projects, we are a central player in the delivery of a diverse and secure energy supply for the UK.

This position offers you the unique challenge of providing planning, policy and consenting advice to assist in the successful delivery of The Crown Estate’s offshore renewable energy activities, primarily in Scotland.

We will look to you to use your knowledge of the marine environment and key stakeholders in Scotland (including political stakeholders), to ensure the successful development of offshore renewables and infrastructure projects while also enhancing the reputation and value of The Crown Estate’s Energy and Infrastructure portfolio. You will also play a key role in our involvement in the emerging marine planning process in Scotland and will contribute to projects across other parts of our portfolio in the rest of the UK when appropriate.

With an appropriate degree, you will have a good understanding of the consenting framework for marine projects in Scotland, plus an excellent knowledge of the relevant stakeholders and the interaction between industries and other sea users in the marine environment. Strong communication skills together with experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship management are important qualities for the role.
