Description

An exciting opportunity to help shape the future of Dorset's low carbon economy.

We are looking for a talented individual to lead the successful delivery of the Low Carbon Dorset programme, a multi-million pounds European funded project hosted by Dorset Council’s Sustainability Team.

Since 2018, Low Carbon Dorset has helped stimulate a step change in Dorset’s low carbon economy by accelerating the deployment and demonstration of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies. Funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Low Carbon Dorset provides free technical advice and grant support to bring forward low carbon projects across Dorset.

The programme was originally set to run for three years, but thanks to additional funds secured from ERDF the programme will now run until June 2023.

About you

Your role will be to manage the successful delivery of the programme, ensuring it continues to achieve its goals, meets agreed targets and is compliant with the rules of the ERDF. As well as developing a sustainable legacy for the programme.

You will manage a small team of both technical and project staff to deliver advice and grant support to business, community and public-sector organisations across Dorset.  You will need to work in partnership with other organisations in Dorset to ensure successful promotion and delivery of the project.

You will have excellent and demonstrable management, communication and partnership working skills as well as knowledge and experience of managing externally funded programmes and of low-carbon energy technologies.

Experience of managing a grants programme and ensuring legal compliance particularly in areas like procurement, state aid and eligibility of beneficiaries would be an advantage.

Additional Information

This position is a fixed term opportunity to End June 2023, based at County Hall in Dorchester.  This role is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

This post has significant travel requirement and you are contractually required to have access to a vehicle (or transport deemed to be suitable by Dorset Council) for use as required.
